We are prosecuting an AIR21 complaint with OSHA against Metropolitan Aviation, LLC on behalf of a corporate pilot. AIR21 is also known as the Wendell H. Ford Aviation Investment and Reform Act for the 21st Century. AIR21 protects pilots and other aviation workers from retaliation when they oppose violation of Federal Aviation Administration rules.
Our client was fired after the plane on which he was flying 4 passengers developed an apparent depressurization. He put on an oxygen mask. He heard a loud bang and the rear bay overheat light came on, indicating a possible fire in the tail compartment. He made an emergency landing. Then he refused to fly the plane back to Manassas, VIrginia for repairs by the company's mechanics. And then, he was fired.
Channel 9, WUSA, in Washington DC presented a two part story on this case and other problems at Metropolitan Aviation.
